Women’s Health and Right to Choose
Perhaps no issue of freedom is more intimate or important than controlling your own body. Women, like everyone, should have the right to control their bodies and make choices about their own health care, and reproductive rights. But that isn’t just about overturning Dobbs and restoring Roe as the law of the land. It’s about making those legal rights practical and possible for every woman.
Freedom you cannot actually use is not freedom at all. Women must have real opportunities to receive the health care and reproductive freedoms that they choose. Too many small towns and many city neighborhoods alike exist within health care deserts – places where there are no nearby clinics, hospitals, OBGYNs, birthing clinics, mental health counselors or even a nurse. And, of course, even if health care services are available, if you can’t afford them, you still don’t have the freedom to choose. Without affordable, accessible health care services, no woman is truly free to control her destiny. I will fight to guarantee women’s reproductive rights, both in law and in life.
